The city of Palm Trees
Legend has it that it was St. Ampelius, in the 5th century, who brought with him to Bordighera from Egypt the date kernels from which grew the palm trees that today give the town a fairy-tale oriental feel.
No wonder the landscapes and magical light of this stretch of coastline fascinated Claude Monet, who painted 38 canvases here.
