Pallanca exotic Gardens
The Pallanca Exotic Garden is located along the panoramic Via Madonna della Ruota, just a few minutes from the centre of Bordighera, in a position overlooking the Ligurian Riviera sea.
Born from the botanical passion of the Pallanca family, descendants of Bartolomeo Pallanca, collaborator of the German landscape designer Ludwig Winter, the garden extends across rocky terraces surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.
It hosts more than 3,000 plant species and preserves one of the most important collections of cacti and succulent plants in Europe, with specimens originating from several continents. Among the rarest species is also a Chilean Copiapoa estimated to be around three centuries old.
The route winds through paths, terraces and panoramic views where botany, landscape and sea views constantly intertwine.
Even today, the Pallanca Exotic Garden represents one of the most significant places in Bordighera’s botanical tradition, heir to the long history of acclimatisation and experimentation that made the town famous between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
